Prezi Tips

I thought the Prezi was a cool tool to help students understand material and a fun way to introduce something in the classroom. Here are some tips that could help others in the classroom:

1. Prezis are an excellent way to let spatial learners be creative with a final project or presentation.

2. When presenting new material, the Prezi might help hold attention better than a powerpoint due to the graphics.

3. Prezis are easy to share which makes it a good tool that can be graded easily.

4. Because they are so easy to share, it would be good to put class notes on the Prezi and have the ability to send it to your students.

Powerpoint Tips

Some basic tips for using powerpoint in a classroom:

  1. Have students tell a story they have written with images or clip art on powerpoint. It would allow for mutliple intelligences and allow for some humor in the classroom.

  2. Have students present about an author using a powerpoint. Builds both technological skills, literary skills, and oral skills.

  3. As a teacher, I could present new information using an interactive powerpoint. Note, this is not just a lecturing tool. Needs to be interactive or kids will be bored out of their minds.

  4. Also great if you have a substitute because the lesson plan is embedded and ready to go.

Tips for Using Video in Classrooms

1. The first advantage of using video in the classroom is that it is fun. I feel most people enjoy a well constructed video to assist in learning.

2. Videos are a good reference point for kids when you have taught something new. If you have taught new material, kids can review videos to help with understanding.

3. Videos can be used to help visual learners or students with disabilities. By filming your class, you can help kids who aren't capable of catching everything in class the first time.

4. Videos are also a fun way of assessing students' knowledge of a subject. By asking students to construct a video at the end of a unit, they are again incorporating technology and using a creative way to show you what they have learned.

Webquest Tips

1. The Webquest is a great tool to get kids using technology to learn. It allows them to use media that they are familiar with but also incorporates some fun into the process.

2. The Webquest could be used as an assessment to gauge students' learning after a given unit.

3. Having kids create their own Webquest would also be a good way for students to have choice in their assignment and judge how much they've learned.

4. Webquests also allow an array of multiple intelligences to explore and learn in the way they want to. A well designed webquest could allow almost any type of learner something they excel in.

5. Webquests are also culturally relevant to students. Research is done primarily on the computer now-a-days. This type of project allows students to use modern materials for learning.
